Tree Services

Our team at EGD have had many years experience working with trees in both the domestic and commercial setting and would love to help alleviate any hazards or burdens that your beloved trees may cause, here are some of the services we offer:

Crown Lift

Removal of lower branches allowing for increased sunlight and improvement to accessible areas, therefore better use of outdoor living space.

Crown Reduction

Trimming the tree from its current size and shape, reducing its overall size, providing increased sunlight to surrounding area.

Crown Thinning

Removal of select branches without reducing the overall size and shape of the tree, providing increased sunlight to surrounding area.

Complete removal of a tree down to ground level. This maybe the solution for trees that are dead, dying or dangerous.

Removing small amounts of the trees crown, providing a more aesthetic and balanced tree appearance, also preventing branches from obstructing property.

Removing a substantial amount of the crown, providing long lasting tree maintenance without removing the tree completely. Not a recommended method of tree care but in some suburban areas a suitable option.

Hedge Cutting

All aspects of hedging can be undertaken from Traditional hedge laying and Hedgerow planting to Hedge trimming and re-shaping. Our hedging work is tidy and precise and we are more than happy to draw up a maintenance plan, to enable you to get the best from your hedgerows.

Site Clearance

Depending on the nature of the tree, location and available access tree debris is removed by trailer or by reduction into small chips in a wood chipping machine. We are licensed by the Environment Agency for the carriage of controlled (green) waste. We pride ourselves on always leaving your premises in a clean and tidy condition.

Felling and Fallen Tree Removal

Felling is the careful removal of a tree when no other course of action is deemed suitable, eg. When the tree is dead/dying or diseased. If the situation allows then the tree can be skilfully felled from its base. If the tree is situated amongst buildings, sheds, greenhouses etc. then the tree must be section felled by a highly skilled climber often with the use of various roping and rigging techniques. In extreme circumstances mobile lift platforms and cranes can be considered.

Tree Bracing

Cables and brace rods are supplemental structural supports intended to reduce the risk of failure of weak branches and multiple stems. Cables generally consist of extra high strength steel and are attached to bolts installed in the upper crown of a tree. They are intended to limit the movement of the supported branches so they are less likely to fail during storms. Braces are threaded rods that are installed through unions of weak branches and multiple stems to provide more rigid support from torsional (twisting) forces that can occur in violent weather.

Roadside Lifting

We are fully insured and qualified to work at the sides of roads. Traffic can be controlled with road signs to provide a safe working area for our operators, the general public and your premises in accordance with current street work regulations. We liaise with the Highways Agency and Local Authority prior to the start of work.

Dead Wooding

Removal of deadwood is necessary when limbs within the crown of a tree begin to die back and pose a risk to people, property, vehicles etc. These limbs are often weak and prone to dropping. Complete removal can be undesirable with regards to mature and veteran trees. Large dead limbs within the canopy of a mature oak for example, can be a valuable habitat for unique micro-organisms, insects and birds, and can often be retained by close inspection/reduction where desirable.
