Supplying line clearance services on Openreach Framework

EGD-Services Ltd were requested to attend site in Bear Cross to clear ariel plant line-of-site. This was to enable replacement of damaged cables/run new fiber line by the clearance of the obstruction of tree branches. The site was planned for out of hours work due to a school close by and parking restrictions, to allow works to take place, under 2-way lights, set up by the traffic management company.

On arrival Sunday morning, it was determined that the traffic management supplier had set out the parking restriction on the incorrect side of the road.  As a result, 20-25 vehicles were in the way of accessing the work zone. The job would have to be rescheduled for another weekend out of hours, wasting time and money.

With a reconfiguring to on-site RAMS, we were able to use our low impact self-leveling M.E.W.P to access the jobsite by closing the foot path with the use of banksmen (lookout). We successfully completed the works with the closure of the footpath and the financial and knock-on impact of job was averted. EGD-Services Ltd’s use of Bluetooth intercom vastly increased the safety of operation as clear and precise communication of cutter and grounds personnel, even when saws, chippers and M.E.W.P s are in operation.

As always with EGD-Services Ltd, the site was left clean, safe and tidy, objectives met, despite third party planning mistakes and the avoidance of the implications that would have followed i.e. waste of resources, finances and job failure.
